Installing OSX drivers and firmware.

Hi , I wondered if anyone can help me, I have a VS-700c & VS700R and am trying ton install the firmware and driver updates for OSX.
I have managed to do the console but not the 700R, the reason is OSX does not see it after booting with the USB lead in, I have followed the instructions to the word but there mentions no word of how to get the 700R recognised to the OSX midi/io utility..so doing the update is impossible as OSX doesn't see it..

Please help...

Al

Anyone? I get as far as pluggin in the USB cable but there is no flashing Midi out or USB, I presume because I have older firmware in it the OSX drivers don't recognise it! So I can't update it...:(

Hi Alan, I think its safe to say that just about everyone up here used PCs to do the firmware updates.

Is that an option for you?

    Hi Alan,

It sounds as if you have the VS-700C Stand-Alone drivers installed, not the full VS-700 SET drivers. This might explain why you do not see the VS-700 IO listed in the Audio MIDI Setup utility. Also keep in mind that the drivers will not show up properly unless you flip the DIP switches in the proper order.

Official instructions can be found at http://www.cakewalk.com/s...der.aspx?ID=2007013191 for the CPU/DSP update and at http://www.cakewalk.com/s...der.aspx?ID=2007013190 for the FANTOM VS update.

My advice is to try installing the VS-700 SET drivers for your version of OSX. You can download these drivers from our website at http://www.cakewalk.com/S...rod=SONAR+V-Studio+700

When you navigate into the driver installation folder, make sure you are going into "VS700_SET_" and not "VS700C_stand_alone".

Once the VS-700 SET drivers are installed, you should be able to select the VS-700R's MIDI ports from the UpdSMF application in OSX.

    Best,
