Changing DimPro data folder

I did a search this morning for this but, but the forum search hardly ever seems to work well.

Anyway, is there an easy way to change where Dimension Pro looks for it's data/sounds folder? I am setting everything up again (finally) after getting a new 2nd drive, and want to get all my plugins setup to look for their data folders on that 2nd drive.

Thanks ahead of time
-Rob

Yea, searching can be difficult.  The change is in the Registation, I believe.  You'll have to search or wait for Techhead or someone else to pop up w/ the answer.

It is an old thread, btw.

    Hi Rob,

By default, the multisamples for Dimension Pro are stored in C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro\Multisamples (unless you are using the 32-bit instrument in 64-bit Windows).

The registry entry that points to the location is "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\Dimension Pro" and the key is "Multisamples Folder". The Key value is "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro"

You can change the Key Value to point to your re-located multi-samples. Keep in mind that you can only re-locate the multi-samples, but not the Program Files.

    Hi Rob!

The multisamples can be relocated by moving them with Windows Explorer then updating a registry key with the new path.  The .progs can be relocated as well with another registry key, but the resource folders, skins, etc. have to go with it.  The following site has a collection of information about the Dimension family of synthesizers and may be helpful to you:

I wasn't aware that the prog files could also be relocated. If anybody knows which registry key is involved, please post. Thanks.

You can change the location where Dimension Pro looks for the programs by modifying the the registry path "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\Dimension Pro\" and the key "Contents Folder". Be sure to include a trailing slash when making the change. (note:  Dim Pro 1.5 uses "\Cakewalk Music Software\dp\" instead).

You will then need to create a "Programs" sub-folder within the hierarchy pointed to by the "Contents Folder" registry key. You will also need to copy other folders to the new content location (ie Documents, Resouces, the default sfz files, etc).

I updated my post.  I found an old post on the forum where I described more detail, so I added that to my reply above.
