Question About UAD Plug-ins

Hi All

I am a guitarist and I am thinking of getting the UAD2 Solo card.

I am interested in the Roland RE201 and the EP34 Tape Echo plug-ins,and probably others when I know what I'm talking about.

My question is,can I run my guitar through these plug-ins as I play, the same way as I do with Guitar Rig 4?

I know some of you use UAD cards, that's why I am asking the question here.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

Alan

Yes you can but since they are another piece of hardware, it adds a tad more latency.

On the UAD-2, there is a "Live Track" mode that minimizes latency (at a cost in CPU) that you'd want to use in this situation.

Definitely buy the version with lots of vouchers, and make it a Duo (or Quad) if at all possible - UAD plugs are seriously addictive and the newer ones require a lot of horsepower.

Make sure you have input echo turned on also.

Uad has had some nice specials lately. Buy a preamp get a UAD2. Buy a UAD2 duo get a pile of nice plugins. Check out their site. There are a few dicount dealers on the web if you look hard. Pro audio toys offers a discount if you type in a coupon code (see their specials link on their home page). The comment about being addictive is very true. Look out!

Get the UAD Quad card.  For the money, it's by far the best deal.  The newer generation of UAD plugs EAT up processing power, so the Quad is the best deal for the processing power.  BTW, with the exception of the SSL emulations, I haven't heard a UAD plugin that I didn't like.  the LA-3a is magical on guitar.
