how can i register my interfaces plugin on a new pc?

my audio interface came with a recording plugin that can be used separately or floats within Sonar.  When I installed it and registered, it said I had two more registrations.  I had to restore my computer because I had a problem with Windows Update and a system restore didn't fix the problem.  So I got everything up and running again and installed that plugin and registered; now I must be down to one last registration.  My dilemma is that I plan on getting rid of this computer in a few months to upgrade and need at least two more registrations because I will have a new desktop then later a laptop.  When I registered, it asked for my e-mail.  Would using a new e-mail get me 3 new fresh registrations?  What about when an interface gets sold, how does the new buyer register that plugin if its already been registered so many times?

only the maker of the plugin can answer your question.  which audio interface and plugin are you referring to?

I have a Saffire.  It comes with a plugin that you can set your recording level and floats on the screen or on top of Sonar.  It looks like a mixer.  I think all audio interfaces are bundled with something similar.

I have a saffire and the mixer is sweet. But I did not knwo it was registered with a limited number of uses. Heck, I've installed it more than 2 times due to crashes and reformats......

I do have a number of plugs that are number limited by license and server registration. I have had problems where I needed to remove and reinstall them, in the process exceeding the permitted licenses.

The answer is to email the company and explain the problem. They can release the licenses from their end. What that means is you will need to register the applications again but it will work. The latest one I needed to do this way was the newest Melodyne Editor upgrade. A quick email and by the next morning, I had an email telling me to try again, they had fixed the problem.

most interfaces do have a mixer (those that don't use the windows mixer and that's only a few of them).  but they don't require you to register them for use!  I think you may have something else you're talking about.  the saffire AFAIK doesn't have anything that you have to register before you can use it.

I use the Saffire Pro 40, and I've upgraded the Saffire Mix Control software several times and there was never a registration process. Actually it wouldn't make sense to have limited registrations since the software can only be used with the hardware.

i have the original Saffire which requires you to enter the serial number to register it to use with their plugin.  I also had to enter my e-mail and was e-mailed back saying I had 2 more registrations available.

if i didn't do this i would not be able to use the interface and the master plugin that came with it.

I do recall that the Saffire came with the Novation Bass Station and the Focusrite plug-in suite (compressor, eq, gate, and reverb). Is that what you're talking about?

Yea, it sounds like an effects suite.

I'd write focusrite and tell them your situation.  You should be able to get more registrations - they are like Cake.  They just don't want a hundred people using one registration.  But the hardware unit is useless  w/o the mixer, so they are talking about the extra software.

ok, it looks like there is a Saffire Control and a Saffire Plug in Suite.  I don't remember which one I had to register but when I did the install I think it was all on the same disk.

That's what we're saying, you did not register the Mix  Control program. You registered either the Novation Bass Station, or the Focusrite Plugin Suite, or both.

OK I have the Saffire and do not recall having to register anything. My software came with the plug in FX suite as well, and everything loaded up and started working with out any sort of registration. My newest DAW is off  line so if registration was needed to allow it to work I would have seen that pop up.

Perhaps your software is different or they are now doing something different. I got the latest update from their web site and it loaded up fine......

is yours the original Saffire or the LE?  since it asked for the serial number of my Saffire, I would eliminate the bass station; plus the e-mail was from focusrite.
