They should work simultaneusly with no problems, AFAIK. You don't tell anything about your routing. Are both the hardware USB? Have you tried different ports? Do you have the newest Tascam drivers? What driver mode are you using (MME, WDM, ASIO)? What have you chosen as track inputs etc?

I don't think it works that way. You should only be able to use one keyboard at a time unless. Maybe if you connect things this way. Midi device out to your first keyboard midi in First keyboard out (set as a thru?) to your other keyboard midi in. second keyboard midi out back to your midi device in. I'm only guessing here but it seems plausible. Maybe someone else can confirm?

I think your right, You have to choose a MIDI input, there is no multiple choice. We used to have to use a MIDI merge box.

The Fw1082 has two sets of MIDI ins and outs, so this should be possible. What are the MIDI settings on the keyboard and drum machine? What channel are they transmitting on? Do you have both the MIDI inputs selected in Sonar? What channel and port do you have the soft synths set to receive on?

I'm not at my DAW right now, but if I'm not mistaken, you can choose "All Inputs->Omni" as the input MIDI source which should accept any MIDI inputs attached and setup properly. I have multiple input devices and they all talk to my system if "Omni" (or even "NONE" which is omni) is chosen. Am I missing something here?

Yea, not sure what he is trying to do - inputs to this 2 hardware units I read as outputs from. He is trying to control two different softsynths from different hardware controllers at once. In that case, each of the hardware units should be set to a different midi channel and each of the soft synths set to recieve a different channel. But I'm guessing. @

Have setup something like this. Ended up buying a separate midi so had one midi device for each piece of hardware. I couldn't make the 2x2 work. Probably not the most elegant solution but only cost $40.00 or something. John

If you're trying to send the output from a MIDI keyboard to more than one MIDI track, you have to turn on Input Echo on each track.

The synths will play to their own tracks. Now, recording the synths live (not just the midi) to Sonar could cause an interesting challenge . . . . . . Brian

Casio keyboards don't normally output sequenced ( loops) material. You would have to use the audio outputs to record the built in loops and sequences. Just last year someone brought one into the studio and we found that out after reading the manual etc. The MIDI port only outputs live keystrokes. Unless something has changed very recently with their products.
