Using Sonar to slow down audio tracks from CDs

I'd like to use Sonar to slow down audio tracks to figure out leads.  I've imported the wav file from a CD but when I try to change the BPM it just shrinks the tracks but plays it back at the same speed.  How do I lock the track to the tempo and slow it down while keeping it in the same key?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Use Timr/Pitch Shifter. If I recall, it's under Process>Audio. Just increase the percentage to slow it down.

Close, Greg. It's Process>Length, then select Stretch Audio by X percent.
An alternate method is to convert to Groove Clips. The drawback on this is that the groove clips are limited in length, but it is good for focusing on a specific passage.
The upside is that the groove clip will respond to changes in BPM.
Groove clips and MIDI reference the BPM setting, but an ordinary audio track does not.
Another option is Amazing Slowdowner. It was about $50 last time I checked, but it is much smoother, and has the flexibility of the groove clip without the sound degradation.

The KVR site has a few free shifters too

I used to have a demo of a DJ program that was super simple to use you could change both pitch and or speed with a simple on the fly control. I just can't remember what it was called , but there were 2 turntables on the screen and drag and drop file menus. I'll go dig around.
