“Distorted sounds coming from TTS-1 ((Issue resolved”))

After several days of experimentation and PM’s to each other GlennP and I, have resolved the issue of the TTS-1 distorting at 24 bit / 96 kHz. On our machines, by selecting “Light Load Mode”
===============================================================
HERES HOW:

Load TTS-1 / click on “system”

In “system Settings” click “Options” tab

in options window click on ”Options”

check box for “Light Load Mode”

===========================================================================
THE TTS-1 SHOULD NOW FUNCTION PROPERLY AT 24/96kHz
====================================================================

It has been quite a “contest” but this setting has resolved the issue for us, as well as others that have been asked to be testers.

With such a large number of views to the original post (over 1200) we suspect this has been an issue for many users.
If you have had issues with the TTS-1 and this resolves it for you, please let us know.

    Works great but doesn't save. On a previously piece I change it, it works, I save the pice. When I open it it hasn't saved the change to tts.

    Am I doing something wrong?

    Hi glad it works, Unfortunately you have to make the adjustment each time you open the TTS-1.
     GlennP and I will continue to look  into it and post our findings,hopefully it can be a permanent feature to save in the synth.

    Yes john6528, we are conscious of that. Looks like we sill have some loose ends, and the “Contest” continues. But it’s working Yahoo!

    Propane Gas Grills… Sounds like a lot of flatulence to me.
    Have asked tec support for assistance on getting the TTS-1 to retain settings.
    It would be nice if they contribute to our fix mysonar8. Yes!

    First, I would like to say congratulations to you two on finding a working solution.  I have not tried this myself but it seems you have several people who have confirmed this works.

    cakewalk's official response since this problem came into knowledge has been to change the sampling rate to 48k or 44.1k.

    2nd - the problem with saving the settings is another known problem with TTS-1.  I suppose I could call it a "bug," but I do not want to have any more hostility drawn to me.  cakewalk is aware that there is a problem with saving the settings in TTS-1.

    if you find a solution to this problem as well, please make sure and post it for all of us to increase our knowledge of how to resolve problems.

    again - congratulations and thanks for finding a solution to a "bug"

    resolved the issue of the TTS-1 distorting at 24 bit / 96 kHz. On our machines, by selecting “Light Load Mode”

    That's interesting. The one time I experimented with that setting on my machine (48kHz), just out of curiosity, I seem to recall it causing TTS-1/SONAR to freeze up or some such unpleasantness.   But that was a long time, and several versions, machines, operating systems and interfaces ago.

    Seems the rendered sound quality (distortion at 96kHz notwithstanding) might be compromised, too.

    I'm glad you guys solved your issue, but I've been thinking all along it was a little contradictory to be running at 96kHz (presumably for improved audio quality), and then using TTS-1 as a sound source.

    Regarding the problem with saving sounds, I always forget what all the ins and outs of that issue are, but IIRC, the solution/workaround is too leave the patch field in the track header set to NONE, and save your tweaked sounds in the User bank.

    hi john,thanks,
    yeah the stupid propane posts are really bugging me, to the point I actually want the video converter posts back.
    at about 4:30 this morning this whole section of the boards were covered with his post,
    makes me wonder why he isn't  banned, and his posts removed.

    While we're on the subject of TTS-1 weirdness...

    Anyone else experience that switching the Tone controls to ON in a patch kills the output? I spent an hour troubleshooting a silent track in an old project before I figured out what was causing it.

    I think this must be an x64 issue, but don't have x86 SONAR installed to test. IIRC, the default piano patch is the only one that doesn't exhibit this problem.

    Brundlefly you make a valid point about using the using TTS-1 as a sound source@ 24/96.
    Even cake say they are entry-level “bread and butter sounds”

    I use very little soft synths per song most of my tracks are bass, acoustic and electric Guitar, recorded at 24/96, plus session drummer 3. I find the TTS-1 I fine for filling out mid frequencies with a keyboard wash sound.

    Thank you for your input… GlennP

    I use the tts-1 quite a lot, I use other plugins on top of it to make it sound better, like the tube leveler, add some compression and reverb and its good to go for me, because its so quick to set up, and less cpu intensive than other synths, it makes it my go to soft-synth, thats why I was so frustrated when it quit working after a year of use, and dozens of projects @ 24/96.
    so now that its working again it makes me really happy, because I was not looking forward to changing the samplerate to all my songs.

    The TTS-1 has a preset file icon and you can customize it and save it like all plug ins. I have mine totally modified with each channel assigned to patches I use, output assignments, reverb and chorus settings. It takes 2 seconds to double clik the icon and load my pre set.
    Do you realize that the default is for reverb ON for all channels! , this is not a good idea for bass patches.
