What exactly IS Sonar X1?
OK, a simple question, but here goes...  Is X1 an upgrade from 8.5.3, or a separate product in its own right?

It is called "ex one" not X 'i' or XI the ROMAN Numerals for 11 It is the 10th incarnation of SONAR which began life as SONAR XL then SONAR 2 coinciding with each year since 2001. Last year saw a deviation with SONAR 8.5 instead of SONAR 9 but it seems clear that Cakewalk felt that the version increment was not a full point upgrade but rather a new point release. It seems appropriate then as this is the 10th year of the product, SONAR's life, that it is called 'X' (said ex) 1 (one).that is X1. So in 2010 we have the first incarnation of the SONAR X range ie SONAR X1.
