Roland V-Drum MIDI "Phantom Hits"?

Tracked a drummer on his Roland V-Drum set. In reviewing the MIDI, I'm seeing so many of what I'm calling "phantom hits" or "phantom artifacts".

Example: In PRV, hi hats are being played, but 1, 2 or 3 times per measure, I see low velocity notes on the ride. Is this just vibration triggering a MIDI event when the kit is being played? Is this common or is there a way to minimize this?

You need to turn down the sensitivity of your drum pads inside the brain/sound module.

It's called crosstalk. There are sensitivity settings in the drum brain to adjust this.

Often, adjustment of these settings are used for live settings when loud instruments or vibrations from the raised stage floor can trigger spurious notes. As you witnessed it can also come from the vibrations from hitting nearby pads or the drummers over exuberent use of the kick pedal. Easily fixed.

Thanks guys. I just downloaded the v-drum manual and will make sure I do some dry runs testing sensitivities out before recording next time.
