CWB files

Quick  question:   I recorded a song  24 bit 96 khz.   I had a guitarist lay down the track at my studio and he didn't completely like it, so he  used an mp3 that I sent him online as a reference for his studio.  He re-tracked his guitars, and sent me a CWB file via DVD.  I brought it up on my system and it was recorded  24 bit, 44.1 khz.  The guitar parts would not transfer.  Is it because his sampling rate is different than what I recorded?

No, its because its a CWBfiel and not a wave file. Open the CWB file and then export the guitar part into a wave file (24/96) and then import it into your other project
