Why do all my samplers reload all their loaded samples when I save a track template? (Sometimes causing a crash.)

The samples are either loaded into RAM for use, or streamed directly off disc. That's simply the way they operate. There's no way they could be saved in the template.

But even samplers that are not included in the track template do this.

    Somehow related question:
Is it possible to drag 'n' drop stuff into the browser as well?
Like drag (one or several) tracks into the browser to save a track template or drag a plugin into the browser to save a preset? You get the idea, that'd be quite awesome.

That would be very cool.  But more of a niceity.

So you're saying that your samplers are crashing? If so, then make a thread about it and I'm sure you can get some help. The CAS latency being set wrong in the BIOS is the usual culprit for samplers crashing. I use NI's Battery and Kontakt a ton, and they never crash out Sonar unless I accidentally load a wrong patch puts me over the RAM limit.

    But a nice one .
In a sense, the whole drag and drop-ability (if not any workflow enhancements you can think of) can be called "more of a niceity". Anyway, it's just a question that struck me. It would be a great, intuitive way to save all kinds of stuff. Find a nice place in the internal browser and drop your FX chain in. Type a name - done.

Drag and drop from the browser is sooo last decade .
(Just pulling legs here, all in all I am very impressed by what we know by now about changes in X1. They addressed exactly my main niggles with Sonar and that's a great thing for sure.)
Maybe it's even possible and they just left it out of the announcements to save a huge WOW for release day.

Thanks for the links, Robin.  I noticed in the drag and drop tip that the track template did not include a track folder.  Since I prefer to have my synth audio tracks in a single folder and my synth MIDI track in its separate track (out side of the folder), will track templates include track folders this time around or might that be an added feature in the near future?

    Thanks in advance.

does it mean that one cannot simply drag'n'copy/drag'n'move more than one automation envelope at a time? meh..
