Sonar 5 with Tascam 224us?

Hello. I am using an M-Audio controller , Tascam 224 , and Sonar 5. I have them all communicating and I can see the midi signal and can hear audio when using soft synths. My problem is once I arm the track to record I lose all soft synth control as far as sound goes. I can see that the track recorded midi notes, I just cant hear them. I'm sure it is a very simple solution but not knowing what to turn off/on can make it endless possibilities. Thank you for your time and imput for this issue.

    Try enabling the Input Echo button on the audio track the soft synth is playing through.
