So what is the bridge news with X1 ???

I assume there have been posts/threads on this.  But maybe it is time for a recap.

Does X1 take care of all the bridging issues with 32 bit plugs in a new way from 8.5.3 ???

Sorry if this is repetitious from other postings.

I am still on XP and I would like to think that X1 is the time to jump to Win 7 64 bit.

I personally don't read every thread on this forum ... nor do most of us have time to do so -- but I do know this:

They haven't told us everything yet.  So we just have to be patient, as hard as that is.

We ALL have many many questions.

But I keep saying --- we should lower our expectations.  This is how it's always been.   Incremental changes.

    Bridgeing took its biggest steps in performance and stability from S8 to 8.5;

I don't think there'll be anything for us in that regard.

as Billy just said - lower your expectations.

I don't think that we'll appreciate the full depth of improvements that the new GUI alone will deliver. I don't think there's much more room for anything major with this version. having said that I fully expect a treat with the first point release - as in previous versions something that's not baked enough now but will definitely be finished say in feb or mar 2011 with the first raft of new bug fixes.

Mike, and I will add:  when I say we should lower our expectations, I in no way mean it's not going to be a very good upgrade.  I just mean we won't all get what we all want (at least not right away).

As you point out, the point releases actually tend to have a lot of goodies.  Anyone who thinks 8.5 was a minor upgrade is missing something.

I'm not at all disappointed with what I've seen so far.  I just know not to expect TOO much.  I'm actually loving what I see with regard to the workflow.

    that's exactly waht I mean.

I get the feeling that some people think
"Oh! a new GUI is that all?"

I'm starting to get the idea that through this new GU,I Cake have dug their hooks deep into the workings of SONAR and drawn up alot more functionality and at the same time have fixed quite a few little old niggles along the way. I think we'll come to realise that it has been quite a big lot of work and big results that we're yet to see in its entirety.

Totally agree.  And I will even bet that we are only seeing/hearing the start of something new for Sonar.

I'm sure this was NO easy undertaking on ALL the people at CW... the programmers, the marketing/sales, management, staff.  Everyone.

And I will also bet that (as you pointed out already), the point releases will also be big deals.   If we've learned anything over time, CW doesn't do things without SOME thought.  AT least the programmers don't.

    I'm definitely psyched about X1.

Haha, I suspect we all feel that way... but it is kind of fun to see how they divulge things in little pieces.  Annoying too - but still fun as well ;)

I actually get a kick out of all the speculation (not really lol).  Ah... humans ;)
