VST plugin HELP

Hey I downloaded this vst plugin called "TapeStop" and obviously does the tape stop effect, but only when I press the "play" button on the effect. When I try to record, I hit the "play" button on the effect and i hear it working. But when i stop the recording and try listening to it, the effect isnt there. Can anyone help me figure out how to get the effect to record on the track?

im sorry if this is confusing.

I will take a guess but I bet that type of efx should be "applied " to the track. Highlight the spot where you need it using ALT key as you drag the mouse.
    Go to process
    Audio EFX
Open the plug in and apply it. It will destructively apply  it to the track(s)
Make sure you back up the song first in case things go south.

JohnnyV is propably right, AND...TapeStop might be a little different from average FX, but normally VSTs are never recorded on the track. The usual procedures are Bounce or Freeze.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

I would suggest bouncing with fast bounce disabled.  In that mode, it essentially bounces in real time.
