CWS8PE loads very slow when opening up!

It takes about 3-5 minutes for the program to load.  I have done a complete uninstall and reinstall.  This was not happening until after (but not at the same time) I switched to M-Audio's asio drivers for my fast track.  It was at that time I deleted the WDM drivers from the computer through locating them in device manager after selecting to show hidden devices.

It seems as if cakewalk is looking for something that isnt there?  Should I reinstall the WDM drivers?  If so, how do I go about this?

Thanks!

PS, I have burned my computer in again to check for ram errors.  There are none, supposedly.

Aww man I forgot to list my computer's specs:

Windows 7 64bit dedicated to recording.
AMD 6 core OC'd at 4ghz but shes running cool
    4gb pc12800 ram ( I know that isnt alot)
    MSI 890fxa motherboard
250gb 7200rpm HD ( I have a few TB hard drives laying around but I havent installed them yet.)
M-Audio Fasttrack.  Just the low cost version.  It has the latest drivers from M-audio for Windows 7.
I also have a nice MSI video card that I have always had.

Make sure you have the "scan for vst plugins on startup" option disabled (options -> global options -> vst plugins).

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

I will give that a try!  I am confused because before that was never an issue but I guess you could say that about any problem haha.

Just wonder why you deleted the WDM drivers that way? Never heard of having to do that.
All the drivers you need will be with your M audio driver install. You should not need anything else unless you run your on board sound card for other programs. Use the ASIO drivers for sure.
I doubt if your sound card drivers would have anything to do with Sonar loading. It's the VST scan that is known to do this. That or a hardware issue. Make sure your hard drive is not getting to full. I've read that even 50% on a audio system can bog things down.

Alright I disabled the vst scan but it still takes about 30 seconds to load when before it would take less than that to scan all vsts and still open the project.

I read somewhere in this forum that its best to set the device manager to show hidden devices so that you can see what drivers are still being used.  That way I can delete all sound card drivers but the one I need to avoid conflict and reduce latency.  Made sense at the time.

Either way, I am back up and running but under conditions I dont understand.

What VST's are you using in the project?  Some of those can take a while to load all the samples, eg EW/Kontakt.

All the stock vsts as well as BBE and Izotope as well as a few others.  I use fruity loops for my sequencer so all the drums are done in that.

AAlright I just now got time to mess with this.

I searched the forums and found out that CW is looking at audio drivers during startup.  Since I knew it wasnt one of the plugins causing this delay(It has been fine for months now)  I reinstalled the MB audio drivers even though I didnt use them.

It loads faster than you can read the cakewalk startup screen now.  Apparently, it searches everywhere for drivers for any detected audio device, thus, the holdup occurs.

I figured I would post my solution since this was hard to find out.

One thing to note, It loads quick as hell after the first initial start.  It just takes a little over a minute initially.

I formatted my hard drive since I had to install another HDD anyways and could easily move all my project files over to that HDD in the mean time.  I also bought a m audio 1010lt today.  Seems to installed cleanly.

Anyways, all is well.  I dont know what the problem was but as always, a format took care of it.
