    Welcome to the forum.
Did you dowload the update for MC 5 and Win 7? The link for that update is in one of the stickies at the top of the page.
By the amount of RAM you have, I'm assuming you have Win 7 64-bit. If that's correct, MC 5 isn't 64-bit compatible. You'll need to run it in 32-bit emulation mode.
Do that by right-clicking the MC icon on the desktop, choose Properties and set it to run as a 32-bit app. Do the same for the executable file in Windows Explorer.
You may also have to go to the TASCAM website and download Win 7 drivers for the US 122L.
    Good luck.

thanks for the advice. i just reloaded my music creator 4 and it had the option of 32bit or 64bit version. i chose 64bit and it seems to be working fine. i havent actually tried recording yet but this evening im gonna give it a try hopefully it works out.

MC 4 is supposed to be run on 32 bit..... I was thinking it did not work well on 64 bit, or W7.... and that it could possibly run on Vista 64 but only in the 32 bit emulation mode....

    am I missing something here?

I built my new DAW based on XP with that understanding.....
