"distortion" effect in MC5
*This is about the distortion fx feature in MC5, not any kind of recording problem. First of all, I have to say I am not too impressed with MC5, I used MC3 for many years and the only real improvement IMO is the way that files are saved and bundled. (also, the parametric EQ is much easier to use than the old graphic EQ, but I'm not sure if that's new or if I just discovered it). I'm pretty disappointed that the distortion effect doesn't seem to add any kind of distortion at all, just a lot of bass (and volume). Yes, I have messed with the filters quite a bit, and it's just nowhere near as good as MC3. I used to be able to get a good, crackly distortion sound - as if the guitar or vocal was coming through a old radio or a bad speaker system. I loved that effect. I want it back!

Do you still have MC 3? You can use them both and the DX effects in 3 should work in 5, too. Plus, you should have the included Amplitube guitar amp simulator. Unless that's what you're talking about.

How is the effect labeled? I don't see "distortion" listed in the effects here.

The only effect I could find that was labelled 'distortion' was under Process>Audio Effects when using MC Pro 24 (my newest MC version). I couldn't hear how distorted it was, though. Every time I tried to audition it, I got dropout. The Amp Sim Lite in the FX bin worked well. Plenty of distortion.

I think the EQ has some presets and one might be called Telephone voice or something like that.
