How do you think this would hold up?

At a quick glance I'd say it might be sufficient, however, make sure you allocate enough money for an audio interface. The built-in soundchip will not be sufficient for good results.

If your somewhat werious about making music and not solving hardware/software problems, get a PC that's meant to be a music PC.

I looked at it and what I am wondering is what type of video card is in it. It says a ATI 3000. I did a search on it. IOW not really giving you much info on the video card.

If all you want to do is simple stuff then this would be ok. I guess. Not knowing what the motherboard and hard drives are, can't really say.

I have a Athlon x2 2.4 with 1mb cache for each core. And I do alright. I can have 8-9 instances of Precussion strip going, ez drummer and other stuff at the same time. With about 10 -15 trks of audio. But I have a good motherboard, good hard drives, and I built it myself for music only.

But for the price, it might be a good deal for you.

[edit] Damn dave I forgot about the audio interface!! You will need to look into that for sure. The onboard audio card won't cut it for long. You will go beyond it's limits in short order.

don't remember the guys name, but have read tons of threads praising his  building of great computers. Do a search and you will find it, or someone I am sure will add it to this thread.

Another place to look, is Sweetwaters, they make good computers also.

I highly recommend calling Jim.  I got a new system from him about a month ago.  It's one of the best purchases I have ever made.  The system is a joy to work with.  I'm more and more impressed every day!!!

I prefer to use a laptop as I find the fan's in desktops just too noisy!
Each to their own I suppose.

That Lenovo should be fine for home recording usage.
But, make sure you spend some money on a dedicated audio interface.
