Will using NASA computer found in the dumpster at Kennedy Space Center Run Sonar X1?
While I was visiting The Space Center and Looking at all the old launch crafts from the 1960's and 70's. On the side of one of the buildings I saw what looked like a fairly new lap top computer tilted and laying in a trash can. I opened it and there was a sticker labeled ...."Space Shuttle ATLANTIS launch computer" it had an orange "retired" sticker on it ....... I don't know what the operating system is on it yet -- or what kind of processor is on it -- because I cant find the right kind of power adapter to power it and check... it's a very odd looking adapter/plug does anyone know where I can find the power cord? what are the computer specs of this and Will it run sonar x1? Or was it designed just to launch the now retired Atlantis? Thanks, Mooch

I'm afraid it'll be nowhere near powerful enough to launch Sonar.
Sonar Professional on Win 10, Core 2 quad Q66000, 4GB ram, Tascam US-2x2, NVidia 9400GT, A-500Pro. Excelling at mediocrity for 61 years.

You actually walked out of a NASA facility with one of their "retired" computers? I'm suprised you were even able to get to it. I'll be even more suprised if it works at all.

I've looked into this for you and there's good news and bad news. The good news is it will run Sonar but not on days when it is icy. You'll only be able to use it on warm days. You'll also need to wait for the correct 'recording window' which will only present itself once every four days. If you miss the 'ascent stage' which is when you can start recording, you may have to go straight to the 'descent stage' which is also know as 'mixing' This may be followed too closely by 're-entry' otherwise know as mastering and it can get a bit messy at times. Especially if your monitors are at the incorrect angle, this leads to things getting too hot. The bad news is, although you will be able to use it more than once it'll need to be fully serviced between each use and this can take around 8 weeks. The other problem is that once you do get it going you'll find you just keep looping round and round in circles.......... Edit: for factual accuracy

The thing I'm wondering is, where do you find a NASA-OS compliant sound card, or will the onboard chip work ok? I bet it has a Fiery port.

on the moon. it will run x1. the gov't has been running x1 since the early 1960's, it's only now being released to the public. agents mulder and scully tell me that the pentagon is currently running sonar x22; it has holograms that perform your mixes and it actually runs on a processor from a solar powered calculator. the cakewalk team could never confirm this.

De Gubmint is supposed to remove and drill the harddrive on scrapped Gubmint computers. Check to see if you even have a hard drive. Gubmint scrap is supposed to be sold through channels! Some agencies have to buy their own scrap back from wholesalers to get their used equipment back in the odd instance they need it. Sounds a little fishy... RUNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!
