In SONAR, choose the Insert > Soft Synths menu and use the dialog box to choose how you the synth to be added to your project.

Hello, Roncef - Virtual instruments are software instruments, synths and samplers.  You need to go to the Sonar Help file (upper right hand corner of your program) and study the tutorials, #4 in particular which talks about using them.  How to use them is thoroughly explained there.

As a preview, I'll tell you - Tool bar>Insert>Soft Synth>Studio Instruments.  That sample player has both a Bass Guitar and a Cello.

You should check out the Sonar Help files concerning soft synths and how to use them. There is a lot of excellent and detailed info in them.

Here is a quick way to set up a project with the GM 16 channel TTS-1 soft synth, which includes bass guitars, cello, strings, drums, flute... etc. Start by creating a new project. In the options box that opens when you create a new project select 16 Track MIDI. In that project go to Insert>Soft Synths>Cakewalk TTS-1. In the options box that opens select ONLY First Synth Audio Output. This will insert an audio track with the TTS-1 as its input source.

Then select all the MIDI tracks and go to Tracks>Property>Outputs. In the box that opens, in the MIDI Outputs, select the TTS-1 Synth. This will output the midi tracks to the soft synth.

Now all 16 midi tracks are ready to play the soft synth, whether you enter midi data using a Synth/Controller, Step Sequencer or Piano Roll View. Click the Bank part (under the channel) of the track on the left side (Track Inspector) and select the first Bank, Preset normal 0. If you want to play DRUMS on a track you must first select the Preset Rhythm Bank in the track. You can select which sound the synth will play on that track be selecting a Patch (under Bank).

This a very simplified outline and your options are not limited to the choices I have suggested but it will get you going. And as I mentioned earlier, start reading that help file. It is not your enemy, but your friend.

Dimension Pro (if you have it, if not, DimLE) is the best place to start looking for realistic sounds.  They both use samples.  Insert (as above) and then hit F5 to open the browser.  It may take a minute to load the browser the first time you open it.  It is arranged by instrument.

The TTS is more of a gm-sytle (and sounding) synth.  More, but more basic sounding, sounds.

Then there are the synth-style sounds and instruments.  They all open the same way.

I know about reading manuals, but sometimes (well, OK, most of the time) I just say damn the manuals and dive right in.  However, a DAW (like SONAR) is a complex beastie so take some time over a weekend to crack the manual and go to the video presentations at the top of the platform.  Once you get an idea of what you can do and how to do it, the learning curve flattens and the pop up help will suffice.  The thing about SONAR is there are several ways to do anything and it is confusing until you suss out your own method.

    Hello!
I have problems with Sonar 8.5 and the relationship with Addictive Drums. After the scan, I can not recall the virtual instrument! (Addictive Drums) What is the problem? Can anyone help? Thank you!

    Welcome to the forum!
(It's better to start a new thread for your question, if you want someone to find your question.)

I don't quite understand your question. How are you inserting AD? By "recall" do you mean you use AD, then close the UI and can not get it back?

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
