This seems stupid, but...

I was having no luck attaching my Roland JV-30 Midi keyboard to my computer.  I uninstalled and reinstalled the UM-G2 driver, I downloaded new versions.  No joy.

Then after I bought a second Midi to USB connector the instructions pointed out that the Midi IN plug goes to the Midi Out port on the keyboard and vis versa for the Midi OUT.

This is one of those things that must be so obvious to everyone here that it never gets mentioned so I thought I would put it out there.

(So it makes me look like a fool, I'm married so I'm used to it. ;-) )

regards,
Chris

It wasn't obvious to me the first time I got hooked up! ;-)
I had to read a little bit, too.

Interesting. To me, that seems counterintuitive.
When I first got into this, i bought a MIDI/joystick port adapter that was labeled just that way.
It threw me for a bit, but what it meant was TO the INput of your device.
    This is pretty non-standard.
As a rule, the OUTput of the sending device will connect to the INput of the receiving device.
This holds true for VCR's, stereo receivers, etc, yet I am constantly going to houses to fix something that doesn't work, only to find out that someone has connected IN to IN.
It's just signal flow, but I can't honestly say if it was intuitive, or just something I learned long ago.

I don't know what you guys are whining about.    It was intuitive to me.
