Dual monitors / laptop

I'm curious to know if a laptop does not have a VGA port but does have an HDMI port....Can I run dual monitors? My current laptop has a VGA port and I run the dual monitor config. and love it.

SONAR Platinum  
Dell XPS17 /  External 23" touch screen & 22" HP displays/Windows 10 64bit i5 processor/  
8Gb ram/500GB (7200rpm SATA HD)/Roland VS-700 set/KRK rockit 6/KRK 10" sub and a bunch of cables

    Yes. My laptop has HDMI and I can run dual monitor config with the laptop display at 1650x1080 and an external  27" LCD running at 1900x1200.

    You can also use a USB video card adapter that will help!

    I found out that the new models of XPS laptops do not have VGA they have a display port and then I will need to buy a display port to VGA adaptor for 20 some dollars.
