M-Audio Oxygen 8 V2--solved, thanks!
I have one of those someone gave me a year or so ago, but I've never used it. Is it supposed to make sound by itself, or does it have to be connected to a computer and/or program like Sonar?

No sound, it's just a controller keyboard to trigger soft-synths and such.
It will work nicely with Sonar but I presume you already have something more capable.

Bless you, Jon, for waking up in the middle of the night to help this damsel almost in distress. :-) I'm trying to pass it on to someone else and was worried for a minute there whether it was actually working or not! :-)

Just plug it in to the usb port to detemine if it is working.
If it asks for or installs a driver, assume that it is...
Whoever you pass it onto will get the latest drivers from the M-Audio site.

janet - I don't see an "m-audio oxygen 8" available. they have the oxygen 25, oxygen 49, oxygen 61 and oxygen 88. do you maybe mean the 88? is this an 88 key?
