keybindings custom colors screensets default folder locations (all) plugin menus plugin presets (ALL) .ini tweaks custom arps
...wicked

Well, okay good point, so lets break all this down. Assuming you have to do a nuke (maybe no imaging software or some such) you've got to think about:

  • keybindings  ALWAYS SAVE MINE TO A MEDIA FAIRLY NUKE FREE
  • custom colors  ALWAYS SAVE MINE TO A MEDIA FAIRLY NUKE FREE
  • screensets HAVENT GONE THERE YET
  • default folder locations (all) DUH
  • plugin menus  ALWAYS SAVE MINE TO A MEDIA FAIRLY NUKE FREE
  • plugin presets (ALL)  ALWAYS SAVE MINE TO A MEDIA FAIRLY NUKE FREE
  • .ini tweaks NEVER DID THEM, NEVER NEEDED TO, ALWAYS BEEN A POWER USER THOUGH
  • custom arps HAVENT REALLY GONE THERE BUT WOULD SAVE THEM TO, SURPRISE! SOMEHWERE FAIRLY NUKE FREE

What else am I missing? Now how many of these are reg tweaks? I think at least two (arps and default folders?)

"stratman70"
What's the big deal about this anyway?

No big deal, aside the fact that the first entry of the "Folder Location" page in the "Preferences" dialog which is the path for "Folder Projects" does not update the necessary registry keys which still retains the original path specified during the Sonar installation process. This affects the "Browser "Content Location" entry for "Folder Projects" by popping up a "cannot find path error message", in my case. My solution was simply to edit the registry accordingly (2 path edits). And if I had not seen this post, I probably would not of noticed it for a long time as I don't really use the Browser.

I ALWAYS use advanced installation method and choose where I put stuff.
content has always been on another drive from the OS for me.
This has been my solution - I've always used Advanced install options in almost every program installer - Sonar, Plugins, ... (regardless of brand). I never trust default installations as they all have their own thoughts as to "standard" default locations.
