Content Files (CAL, track icons, patterns, etc.) - Keep X1 and 8.5 versions separate?

In X1 we get to choose where to install the content files (CAL, patterns, track icons, etc.).  In 8.5 and earlier, the content files always got installed to (a couple locations on) C: so I ended up moving them into well-organized directories on a separate drive.  Each time I did upgraded Sonar, I moved the new version's content files into my custom directories, overwriting the previous version's content files.

For X1 I decided to let the content files go in a new directory instead of overwriting.  I then compared the X1 content files to the 8.5 (and earlier) content files, and see several new and edited files.

So I am wondering: does it make more sense to keep the X1 content files separate from 8.5 and earlier (taking up twice as much disk space), or can/should we merge them like we did for previous versions?

I'll have to go on record as not being very happy with the new file structure's assumption that the content is all version specific.  For the most part, it's not even product specific (like the fact that SONAR is now using Project5's arpeggiators and such).  Content that previous versions don't know anything about (like FX chains) doesn't break previous versions because they aren't even looking for them.

The only thing that might be a problem (in my tiny mind) is project and track templates...but even there...I rarely (if ever) start a new project in an old version of SONAR.  So...I'm merging all the content.
