Yamaha Dtxplorer, Edrum Midi Mapper Settings.
I make no guarantee's, use these settings and software at your own risk. Make sure you back everything up first.
This works for Windows, not sure about Mac, I don't use a Mac.
If you use the Yamaha Dtxplorer drums and have been looking for the settings for the Edrum Midi Mapper program to make them trigger the proper midi notes in your daw, this worked for me. This requires Edrum Midi Mapper and Loopbe1 in my setup.
With your Dtxplorer drums connected via midi to your PC :
1: Install
Edrum Midi Mapper - It's shareware but it's not crippled and never expires.
2: Install
LoopBe1 - There's several versions on the download page, some for business, and there's a free version available also.
3 : Create a Edrum Map using these settings :
Kick in - A1. out- C2
Snare in - G1. out - D2
Rack tom 1 in - C3. out - D3.
Rack tom 2 in - B2. out - B2.
Floor tom in - G2. out - G2.
Ride in - D#3. out - D#3.
Crash in - C#3. out - B6
Hat open in - A#2 out - C4.
Hat closed in - F#2. out - E4.
Hat Foot in - G#2. out - A0.
In the Edrum Midi Mapper setup make sure you have your MIDI IN device "Where your Dtxplorer Drums are connected" selected for Midi In for Edrum Midi Mapper, also Midi out should be set to "Loopbe1" in the Edrum Midi Mapper.
4 : Edrum Midi Mapper has to be running for this to work, leave the program running.
5 : Load up your cakewalk Daw, go into Midi devices and select LoopBe1 for Midi In.
Load up the synth drums you want to play. Your Dtxplorer drums should be triggering the proper notes.
Keep in mind, I'm not using Cakewalk's Drum Map Manager at all.
You may have to make the proper midi device selections on the track view for your devices for it to start working.
Some of you might be wondering : "Why not just create a drum map with Drum Map Manager in Cakewalk?".
1: In my case I use MC5, for some reason or another I get no response at all from the snare and bass kicker with my Motu Fastlane midi connection, so there's really no options to change anything. Some people I have read get a response, but they trigger the wrong notes.
2: The Yamaha Dtxplorer does not have any selection to change the midi notes coming out of them.
A Simple Drum Map in cakewalk might work for some people, or maybe just a combination of Edrum and Cakewalk's Midi Mapper, but I couldn't get it to work for me.
This worked for me.
I've searched all over the internet and there is information on how to do this, mostly in bits and pieces though.
There's also some You Tube Tutorials on how to do this, but everyone of those I've found they don't give you the setting for the Dtxplorer drums/Edrum Midi Mapper that I posted above. Some of them have d/l links to d/l those settings, but everyone I've found so far for that file the download hasn't been there.
I've had these Dtxplorer drums for a while now, they were a Christmas present 3 years ago or so, but I have rarely played them. Mostly because I'm not a drummer, and up until now the midi problem prevented me from using them with my Daw.
I've heard there's hardware you can buy that will change those notes without having to use this method, but I've also heard some of that hardware is very expensive.
Only reason I'm posting this is so that hopefully it might help someone else save some time trying to find this information.
I'm no midi expert by no means, hope this helps someone.
Happy Holidays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
