Advice on sound
Okay as I said in the first one and got replies I'm using a guitar usb cable I got from Target with the software and using my Line 6. I got a tip that I should cut down the drive and treble to get a decent sound it seems it did do the trick but I can still hear that hissy sound and have my amp on the Insane channel so what do I do from there?? And I keeping messages saying that my audio engine is off during I play a track and record a track, also had to reinstalled cause it wasn't installed properly.

hi edman - I'm confused by a lot of what you're saying. first, if you have a USB Guitar cable then that's considered a separate soundcard. now - you also mention a "Line 6" - is that also a soundcard? what model line 6? or are you talking about a Line 6 amp?

From TheEdMan: >_> sorry still new at this Umm I'm using a Line 6 amp 15w Spider III. So far I was playing with software checking out the Sound Center -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ok - USB guitar cable is your soundcard then. but now you've confused me more by saying you were checking out the Sound Center. the Sound Center is a softsynth - you don't use it with a guitar. you trigger sounds from it using MIDI. so you can't use it with your USB guitar cable. also, you said you were using your USB guitar cable, but you said you were going thru a line 6 amp and you said you were using the "Insane Channel" - what is that? is that a setting on the amp? HOW do you have things connected physically? I'm trying to understand how you are using your amp AND the USB guitar cable.

So, you're plugging the amp's record out into the USB guitar thing?

I suggest not using the USB guitar thing at all. Plug the record out directly into the line in of the computer. Then throw the USB guitar thing out the window.

not a USB cable for the guitar. just use an instrument cable from the output of your amp to the input of your soundcard.

Right. What kind of output is the record out? 1/4 inch like a guitar cord? Or 1/8 inch like an mp3 player headphone jack? Or RCA jacks like on a stereo system? In any case, Radio Shack has all the cords or adapters you need.

They make a one piece molded adapter that converts between the 1/8 to 1/4 jacks.... I use one in my studio for my 1/8 headphones in my stereo. The same thing in mono works for getting the guitar into the computer. A couple of dollars at most.

first, if you have a USB Guitar cable then that's considered a separate soundcard. [class="post"]The sound level produced by a speaker (at 1mtr) is simply 10xlogW+S Where W is power input in watts and S is the speaker sensitivity given as XdBA/1W/1mtr....BUT! That is for a specific, usually "shaped" noise input.

an instrument cable connected to your computer soundcard, IMO will work better than the USB guitar cable. but I would also recommend you get a dedicated recording soundcard if you can afford it. and usb is OK for a real recording soundcard as long as you don't get another clunker like the usb guitar cable. check my website for recommendations on soundcards (even usb soundcards!)
