Screen Sets Inconsistent - Anyone Else?
Has anyone else run into this with screen sets? Mine are not consistent, which is, of course, the whole purpose behind screen sets. They seem to work OK until I get a couple of tracks inserted, then they behave as they choose. But not always. Really random and hard to track down. Anyone Else? Here's a specific problem from another thread: http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2160147 Willy, I've been using this set-up but have run into a problem. I've saved screen sets multiple times to make sure everything is working fine and I have Screen #4 saved as your set up. I open a new project and run through my screen sets to check them out and it all looks great. I load a track template with 3 instances of Dim Pro, so now there's 6 tracks (3 MIDI and 3 Audio). I record some MIDI. Then I hit 4 on the keyboard and the screen now has the top half expanded to include multiple tracks and the console has shrunk towards the bottom. This forces me to re-size everything again to get the original look. I'm assuming this is NOT as intended so either I am doing something wrong or the Screen Sets are. Any ideas? Anyone else?

Wow, thought I was crazy but I saw this last night. I still cannot pin it down well enough to articulate in a useful form though. I'll post back when I can.

"I still cannot pin it down well enough to articulate in a useful form though. I'll post back when I can" Thanks corn... Yeah that's the problem. It's really hard to describe and I can't post pics. Pathos, All screen sets are locked and I've been testing this for a couple of hours. My test has been simple enough. I open a new project and run through my 4 locked screen sets to make sure they are behaving correctly. Check Then after recording a MIDI track I'll try and get back to screen set #4 (in this case) as shown in Willy's thread and the top section will have changed to hold 3 or 4 tracks and the bottom will be shrunk down forcing me to re-size the console. This isn't the only time and was very quick to blame my inexperience but this one described above happens every time add a few tracks. It could most certainly be user error but any tips would be most appreciated.

Here's something I just discovered. Screen Sets are disabled if you have no track in your track folder - there must at least be an audio track in order for Screen Sets to work. In my new projects (Normal Template and cntrl 'N' to open) I start with a single Audio track just to get screen sets to work. But... IF YOU DELETE THAT AUDIO TRACK IT WILL DISABLE SCREEN SETS Even if you add a new track screen sets are gone - at least for me and my system. Try it and see. Not sure where to report this stuff.

Use the mouse and click on the bottom endd of the top 'view' (track view) --- get the 'track' view in full screen position...an the use the keyboard shortcut "D" to toggle between console and track view......I hope this helps..it's worth a try.

I am absolutely having a horrible time as well w/screen sets. They behave erratically...sometimes they work and save the positioning/layout...other times, they seem to get confused. Currently, they are of little or no value to me.

Same here...I just quit using them. There seemed to be no rhyme or reason to them. Sometimes they would save and be reloadable but others they'd just revert back to their defaults.

Ok to add to my misery as well with screensets, when I switch from 1 to any other, it pauses and seems to ACCESS THE A DRIVE!!, then switches to another screenset view. What the heck is going on with that? I do sometimes use the floppy when I make discs for a midifile player but I can disable it in windows control panel. Anyone any ideas?

I'm seeing general flakiness and unreliability with screen sets as well... - Screen position on the second monitor (console) is not being saved if you tile the console view with the track view across two monitors.
- Pluign lists randomly revert to the default listing
- Sometimes effects will be displayed instead of instruments even though the instrument selection box is high-lighted in the browser.
- Multidock is a major annoyance if placed on a second monitor, since it then tries to dock anything that gets moved onto the second monitor. Holding a modifier key is NOT a solution. There is absolutely no reason for forced docking to be the default behavior. Serious productivity zapper, which basically makes the multidock unusable on anything except the main screen.

Just to follow up my original post I've gotten the Screen Set thing pretty well figured out and now, for me, it's one of my favorite features. It stumps me once and a while it's mostly user error.

That has been discussed and more than one user has had to disable their floppy to get Screen Sets to switch quickly.
