I read it keeps resetting to 16th notes, which certainly seems to be the case on my system. I think a patch fix is incoming.

I have the exact same problem. It happens whenever I view the clip in piano roll view. Most likely it's the result of the troublesome universal StG function, and the notes being used in piano roll are all 16ths, but it could also just be an unrelated glitch. Now, I tried to follow rbowser's advice, but I've realized that when I change the snap preferences they reset as soon as I close the window! What's up with that? Maybe I'll try that admin thing.

I had exactly this problem, and commented on it in the "bugs" thread ... but wasn't certain whether it was my lack of knowledge or a bug ... for there is a huge learning curve to this release.

I'd gone and turned off magnetic strength, was running as an administrator (a trick learned in 8.5) and still ... though I had set the snap to parcel at 1/32 triplets ... the highest resolution possible, in track view all I could get it to do was snap at the beginning and end of measures. It wouldn't budge or nudge for nothing.

I've upgraded my hardware since then, and have been busy trying to make everything work in the new system. Hence I've not been back to actually working on projects for a couple days now.

Once I get up and running, I'll report back and let you know if I'm still experiencing trouble with this.

I kinda figured out my issue just now.. where the on and off button to activate snap , i right clicked , and set it to "SET TO" then measure , thought I had it set like that but now it seems to snap pretty good . Oh well it works now>>>

This is the case for me.  I set it to measure, and each time I reopen my project it is set to 16th notes.  I would like it to remember the last setting in the new patch.  I'm starting to get annoyed having to hunt things in their new menu system that used to be in front of me in previous versions.  I'm not all that impressed with the new skylight feature either.  It seems to replace the tabs feature of 8.5, not such a big advance.  Let's hope they listen to us when they issue the new patches which are coming.

Seems i am also having issues with the snap to grid. In X2, there is no way to physically "turn it off" but instead slide the bar to either light or extreme....... Something is going to have to be done with this as this has become VERY annoying after only using the new version in less than 3 days.... I sit here and do mixes of music at least 12 hours out of each day and at the moment I am so annoyed by this snap to grid thing I'm ready to give up and go back to another program to do what I need to do. It is very important this stuff works not just for my self but others as well. As I am sure there are many others out there that totally depend on this software to do what it needs to do to get their music done correctly...
Also, The skylight is horrible...... Period......
I believe on thing that would help so many folks. Add a custom UI to X1-X2 that would give the look and feel of the older sonars such as 8.0 or 8.5. I believe that would help TONS of people more than anything. Also add the option to use the old style snap to grid instead of X1-X2.

Did anyone ever get the snap in X2 working correctly in staff view?  Also, how does one run X2 as administrator?
