32Bit Waves Plugins in 64Bit Sonar (8.5xx)

As feared, I'm having difficulty running my new Diamond Wave$ in 64Bit Sonar.  I bought the bundle for just under $1500

Are any of you running Waves in Sonar 64Bit.

If so, how ... as Bitbridge does not seem to help in my particular case.  I've read that JBridge helps.

I may try a fresh update of Sonar 8.5.x to see if that helps (albeit I thought I had the latest Bitbridge)

... otherwise I'll be forced to run 32-bit Sonar (per Waves tech support) for Waves Plugins (at least till 200 Waves 64-bit plugins makes it to V8 or V9 ... 6-12 months from now, I'm guessing.)

You have numerous ways of getting the Waves plugins working under x64.

If the DirectX plugins are installed/working under the 32Bit version of Sonar...
You can download "dxshell v1.02b" which will wrap the DX versions so they appear as 32Bit VST plugins...
These wrapped 32Bit VST plugins work just fine with BitBridge2 (Sonar 8.5).

If you have the Waves v7 installer, the plugins will work straight away.

Are you able to open the VST version of the Waves plugins under Sonar x86 (32Bit version)?
If so, download use the Shell-to-VST app (also included with the dxshell v1.02b download).

Thanks Jim, I was hoping you'd chime:

I have the Waves v7r16 installer and I get gliches with all my plugs locking up Sonar 64 (Sonar 8.5.3 I think)
I've tried nothing yet with Sonar-32 (hoping to avoid that installation on top of Sonar-64) ... so I'll get to that installation with "dxshell v1.02b"/the Shell-to-VST app ... in a day or 2 and report.

OK: I've tried the 'latest' JBridge update on about 5 of the Diamond Waves with promising success!  (While Bitbridge(version?) continues to fail)

Interestingly, when I updated one Wave to JBridge, all 100 or so got updated, IIRC.

Thanks for bearing with me on this sensitive issue.

    Hi Philip

FWIW, The Waves plugins had issues with BitBridge1 (Sonar 8).
Waves are running well with BitBridge2 (Sonar 8.5)

Nothing wrong with using jBridge... but it shouldn't be necessary

    Thanks Jim,

I'm actually having problems with JBridge (running the 1st browser on every waves pluggin).

I hope I can get one or the other working ... BitBridge2 would be ideal ... I'll keep working on this.

    Thanks so much!

Well still working on the BitBridge TeleServer woes ...

Looks like I may have to install Sonar 32 or just use Sound Forge for isolated tracks ...

Hi Philip,  Are your Waves VST's set to "Configure as synth" in "Plug-in Layouts/Manage Layouts/Plug-in Properties"?  I was having the same issues as you are, in Sonar 8.5.3, when Waves was set to "Configure as synth".  I did not have any problems when they were set to "Configure as tempo-based effect", except that I can no longer route MIDI to them, but that seems to be the same with every plug-in Sonar sees as a VST effect (if someone knows a work-around, please let me know).  On the other hand, I have not had any problems with Waves crashing when set to "Configure as synth" in Sonar X1.  However, Sonar (version whatever) only allows a limited number of VST instruments, so when Sonar sees Waves as a VST instrument, Sonar no longer sees the majority of my other VST instruments (again, if someone knows a work-around, please let me know).

The only trouble I ever have with any of my Waves products on Win7 64bit runinng Sonar 8.5.3 64bit (and now X1 64bit) is GUI distortion or blanking.  And all that takes is closing the WAVES GUI and reopening it.  I don't get crashes directly caused by WAVES at all.

The Waves GUI flashing is usually related to an out-dated video card driver.
