Sonar 6 Too Much for a T5500?

I have a Core 2,  T5500, 1.67 GHz.

I have Sonar 6 which I haven't used.  I recently put it on my computer with the above hardward.  The latency is very bad - at least 1/2 second, maybe close to 1 second.

Is that what I should expect with a T5500?
Is there anything I can do?
A WDM driver wasn't available - only ASIO.  If I somehow could get a WDM driver, would that get the latency down?
