automating guitar rig 4 preset changes in sonar x1

I'm running 32 bit version of windows 7...
I mark GR 4 as a soft synth in plugin manager
I add it as VST soft synth in pre-recorded audio track's effects bin
I insert blank midi track and select GR4 as an output (I don't know why I do this)
I plug GR 3 pedal kontroler into USB port (I don't really know why)
I enable Write on GR when I open it by double clicking on FX bin on audio track
I arm same audio track for record
I start pre-recorded audio track playing and by using mouse in GR window or by using GR pedal I create some envelopes in the audio track when I switch from preset patch to preset patch in GR...
Unfortunately, these envelopes only capture a small percentage of the parameter changes made as I switch from preset to preset...
How do I capture the entire preset change so that it plays back correctly?
I've been plowing through mysteries for several days now to get this far...
