a few companies make such things.. and well no headphones can match proper speakers...

they do have their uses BUT you might find your gonna end up turning up the volume as your ears get tired.

I use headphones for some of what I do BUT at low volumes and not for prelonged periods

Now were talking ;)

I am an Endorsee for Future Sonics in Ear monitors that are fantastic for all my Recording and monitoring live and in the studio I swear by them 100%but I cant take them in and out my ears all the time to check sterio imageing and do some referenceing etc in the studio or I will damage the wires

I think I might look at geting a set of the KRK they do seem to do what they say they do but none of my stores have them in stock to try :(

When I use headphones and then want to switch to the monitors...I find the transition is easier if I take them off, and then take a 10 minute break.... go do something else and come back without the recent "ear memory" of what the cans sound like.

My cans sound pretty good, definitely different and perhaps better sounding than the speakers..... but I also know the speakers are closer to the truth in the mix.

That short break helps my ears adjust.
