nar X1 Will not load
I am using a Compaq Presario/Vista Home Premium/Pentium D 820 2.4ghz/Intel Graphics Media Accelerator/Emu 0404 sound card/5gb ram/2.25tb drive space. I tried the download route and after having the same problems as everyone else I ordered the physical discs. Had a problem on install error message "Access Denied........." Fixed that problem by creating a new administrative account. I finally got it to install cleanly now I start the program, starts to scan VST's and I get an error message "SonarX1PDR.exe stopped working" once this happens I cannot restart the program, I can't even get it to "end process in Task Manager. I have to restart my computer to try to open it again. I did have it open once for just a few minutes when I tried to open it through the Cory Yarkin project. It opened, loaded the project, of course I got no sound but that was probably just the settings but when I went to change the settings it quickly crashed and will not open that way again. What an exciting two and a half minutes!!!!!!. I actually got to see the program on my own computer. I just wish I could do it again!!!!!.......Please help....... Joe

Grasping at straws here. You said that you created an admin account. Are you actually executing Sonar as "Run as Administrator"?

Most certainly sounds like a user rights issue. The only user on my DAW IS... wait for it... wait for it... ADMINISTRATOR

And depending on how your Windows is configured, simply running under the Admin account may not be enough. You may have to configure the shortcut to X1 as "Run as Administrator".

Sorry but Pentium D is not support for installation using Sonar X1... The box says minimum install requirements are Windows XP SP3/ Vista SP2 32 or 64 bit/ Windows 7 32 or 64 bit/ intel Core 2 Duo E8200 2.66 GHz/ AMD Phenom Quad Core 9750 2.4 GHz / 2 GB RAM/ 4.5 GB for installation ( 15 GB for full installation) maybe a rebuild of your PC will help. Peace

I'm having pretty much the same issue - Sonar X1 splash screen show while scanning VSTs, but then stops dead and Task Manager can't kill the process. The trial version ran fine on my dual Xeon system, so why isn't the full version working?

Have you tried renaming you VST folder so that X1 won't scan your plugins? It could be that it's a vst that gives you trouble.

That did it! :) Thanks liinnerd! I still find it really odd that the X1 Trial worked fine with exactly the same setup though. Might be the Cakewalk plugins installed by the full version that require registration causing the issue. Will investigate further....

Right. Back to square one (almost) - crashing after loading the interface but before X1's loaded the default project. Tried unplugging all my MIDI controllers - no joy. Tried renaming the VST folder again - no joy.

Finally. Don't know if this will help the OP, but this worked for me after numerous uninstall/cleanup/reinstall attempts of the full version. - Remove all Cakewalk/SONAR X1 Producer folders and clean the registry of X1 Producer references.
- Install X1 Producer Trial and run to make sure it's working on the target system.
- Install X1 Producer Full with just the standard DX plugin compliment - installing the older stuff seemed to be part of the problem.
The above method worked on my system, so don't take it as read that the stated system requirements are rigid: Windows XP Pro SP3 (32 bit) 2x Intel Xeon 3.0GHz 2GB RAM 2x 500GB SATA drives for system and sample libraries 1TB SATA drive for audio ASUS PCH-DL Dual Xeon 604 mainboard ATI RADEON 7000 series dual head AGP graphics 2x UAD-1 DSP card 2x Creamware Pulsar II Good luck!
