A-800Pro in Cubase

Hello i have just purchase a A-800pro keyboard and i want to install in cubase.
Someone has done it? It is very interesting because nobody speaks about it all over the internet, and i think that this keyboard is for all users that need a master controller with her daw.
If somebody is be able to explain it step by step, me and others users will be very thankfull.

I have a first question, in the knobs, (A-PRO editor) they are with a type called : encoder simulate and this is very bad to controll the pan for example, ocurrs strange things like movements to the right and when you move it the response is stupid.(Mackie template testing) But when its use the type called: Control Change the reaction is accurate. why do it  (the map included for cubase in the keyboard) uses the type encoder simulate, when this  is not working ok? any opcion in the daw?

My apologies with my english, this is not my native languaje.

Greetings.

Hello the movements to the right is because the knobs is not in the center and this machine send continuos values by the usb from the knobs (is it normal?), but i continued without reaching a correct behavior when I use it for one track (pan, automation) except in a VSTi when i use "Learn midi". Can anyone help? Thank you.

Then just adjust the default map to your needs.

I just saw this thread so sorry for the late post. I don't know if you've found a resolution. I purchased the A800 back in May of this year for use in Cubase. I found and used the included control maps and these work for basic transport features. They don't work for more advanced plug in control and you can't program them to do this. I contacted support twice and was told both times this controller was not designed for anything else but Sonar. The marketing for this product would suggest otherwise. I was truly disappointed when I learned this. The only reason I kept the controller was I like the keyboard compared to other controllers. My work around is I use the A800 for transport functions in Cubase and I bought a Novation Nocturn with Automap for everything else. This setup actually works great for me because the Novation Automap really works. Actually,  navigating through the A800 menu would probably be somewhat cumbersome.
Previous to the A800I I purchase the M-Audio Axiom Pro and had the same issue their automap software, Hyper Control. It didn't work with Cubase either. I returned that unit. I found that the automap for proprietary brands, (Cakewalk, M-Audio, Steinberg/Yamaha), even though they say it works with other hardware, really doesn't. Sure you can map some basic commands but that's about it.

Hello all,

the Cakewalk support for non Sonar users seems to be very bad. I am using Samplitude and discovered the same problems with the knobs described in this thread. But I solved the problems and I think the solution will also help Cubase users.

The problem is indeed the "Encoder Simulate" type in A-PRO Editor. I loaded the 01_Cubase_SOLO control map with the editor and changed all occurrences of "Encoder Simulate" to "Control Change" type. The Control Numbers corresponding to the knobs are:

R1 74
R2 71
R3 65
R4 2
R5 5
R6 76
R7 77
R8 78

and if needed

R9 10

Send this changed control map back to the A-XXXPRO. Then in the DAW create an adequate device as described in the control map guide. And now tell the device with MIDI learn the midi codes for each knob. That's all!
