How install DimPro with X1, but keep it working with old projects in 8.5.3?
Hi all,
I have Sonar PE 8.5.3 with DimPro 1.2, and I use DimPro in a lot of projects. I'd really like to keep those projects viable even after I've installed Sonar X1 on the same machine. I've seen so many messages about problems with DimPro in X1 that I'd like to get some solid clear advice BEFORE I make any changes to my machine. So far, I haven't installed Sonar X1 or DimPro 1.5. The machine is running Windows 7 64-bit, and the 64-bit version of Sonar PE 8.5.3. This would be my ideal outcome:
1. Sonar 8.5.3 continues working as it is, with DimPro 1.2 (which I always insert through the Synth Rack, and which I think is using the dll which appears in Vstplugins/Dimension Pro/Dimension Pro x64.dll).
2. Sonar X1 makes the new DimPro 1.5 available to me, and enables me to install the additional material.
3. Opening a project from 8.5.3 in X1 either allows me to use the original 1.2 dll, or allows me to reassign DimPro tracks to the 1.5 version.
Is this possible? If so, what's the best way to achieve it?
If it's not possible, is there any way to have DimPro work in both 8.5.3 and X1 at the same time?
I know it's going to take me a while to get used to X1, and I need to be able to keep working on my 8.5.3 projects in the meantime.
I'm a Sonar user since 1.0 -- bought every version, and usually I have no problem upgrading, but it looks like nobody has had a good experience with DimPro upgrades, so I'd like to get some sound advice before starting. If Cakewalk want to use this opportunity to post some definitive instructions, I'm sure lots of future upgraders would be delighted.
All help appreciated,
Martin
