Multidock won't stay undocked

In an effort to remove the multidock from my screen I opened the Matrix View so that I could undock the multidock.

If I then close the multidock, it returns to being docked at the bottom of my screen and re-opening Matrix view again finds it in the docked multidock...

Does this one sound like a bug or is it expected behavior?

I'll report it if it's considered a bug...
