Amp Simulator plug in Sonar LE 8.5.1.17

Hi there folks and a happy new year to all. Just picked up a Cakewalk UA-1G which included Sonar LE. I had read a previous review stating that this software came with an amp simulator plug in. I just cant seem to locate this anywhere. Any suggestions? Also I have noticed in playing around that the effects I apply to my guitar are not applied until playbaclk of the recording - is there a way to apply an effect and hear how this will sound prior to recording?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Been doing a bit of research on this when I get the chance, so hopefully this might help other newbs. What I was looking for in terms of the effects was to use the input monitoring feature as described at the tail end of this helpful starters tutorial.

As for the amp simulator question, I've managed to dig up a few freebie plug ins that do the job nicely, dont have the links available now, but if anyone can recommend any guitar effects/sims I would be interested to try them out.

Cheers

hey reilly, Guitar Rig by Native Instruments has a free amp app.  It's called Guitar Rig Player.  It has one amp, a Marshall Plexi or 800, not sure.  But, has a lot of effects.  I use it as a plugin with Sonar LE and can be used as a standalone app as well.  Sounds great! It includes their TapeDeck which enables you to do looping and import mp3 backing tracks to play over.  It can put a load on your processor depending on how many effects you have in a preset though, so plan wisely and follow all the tips to optimize your computers performance like disabling system sound alerts, power save modes and turn screensavers off, etc,. It helped reduce the load on my PC.  Good luck!

Ugh. I have over 150 files that use AmpSim as a placeholder amp. I've tried custom install on Sonar X3 but AmpSim is not a separately installable component.
One step forward two steps back. Guess I won't be using the new computer any time soon.
Is there any way to intall the AmpSim plugin independently?
