Bug when closing projects

Hi all.

Well I've just finished installing X1 along with the X1A patch, and immediately I have a problem when closing projects.

The project will save ok, and I've tried this with a variety of projects - audio only, soft synth based etc, but when I close any project, the project will close but then the egg timer will never switch off, and according to task manager, Sonar is listed as "Not Responding". TM also reports that the SONARPDR.exe process is NOT releasing ANY memory upon closing a project.

Has anyone come across this before? If so, any ideas on how to fix it?

These projects open/close/save normally in all previous versions of Sonar but not X1.

This is currently making X1 totally unusable for me. Having to kill the process and start again from scratch is a right royal PITA.

Any ideas people?

Thanks,

Jonesey.

Are you running 32bit or 64bit?

The only things that hang hosts here (and it's not limited to x1) is Korg padkontrol (now kicked to the side) and sometimes x86 windows being open (magix were bad in particular)

Although I can't find it, it seems that I have seen a thread on this recently.

I'm running 32 bit, with no external controllers.

I've searched as well but can't find anything resembling this.

Did you redo a VST scan after installing the patch.  It is possible some of the native sonar stuff got rewritten and has different reg info now.  Long shot but may be worth a try.

I don't have that shutdown issue, but I've only been playing with very simple projects thus far, nothing complicated.  I will be on the lookout for it.

In the meantime, I am pleased to learn that X1 has an egg timer, as you say.  Perfect, Sonar can help me make Sunday morning breakfast!

No, I'll try the rescan thing and report back.

Ok, some small progress. Some projects will now close properly and release it's memory, but not others.

I'm not 100% convinced, but it might be an issue with my old Kontakt version of EWQLSO, though the problem has been experienced on audio only projects.

I'll keep testing and report back.

It's going to be a long day.

I've been through that as well...
I deleted the aud.ini and that probably fixed it for me.. the sonar-closing-crash never appeared again

I've had the same issues as well. Maybe I'll delete aud.ini file and see if that can help. I don't think it can hurt!!!!

I am reliably getting X1A crashes when closing projects from earlier versions of Sonar.  Sonar 8.5.3 is still my go-to DAW for actual work for that reason.  I have over a thousand projects that continue to open and close fine in S8, but I finally broke down and made new template for X1 so I could start to learn the new interface.   New projects seem more stable, but not being able to load legacy project is a HUGE shortfall to put it mildly.

I tried the aud.ini thing, but still seeing frequent SONARPDR crashes.   My NI Kore 2 Controller service (NIhardware.exe) tends to crash in conjunction with this quite frequently (I have KORE 2 loaded in almost all of my projects because it is in my template).

AUD.INI is in the X! folder  deleting it will not affect ur system, X1 will rebuild it the nect time it starts
just go into your preferences and reset the driver settings, etc

BTW I have win xp 32 bit and get the sonar crash after closing projects occasionally .. usually my Maudio keystation 88 driver is not releasing properly

I deleted the Aud.ini in program files under X1 , it rebuilt it np Thanks.. But when ever I close X1 I still get a crash Dialog box that comes up, "sonarprd.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close".
Just another problem I have to deal with, Note I dont' have X1a patch installed , I had to erase x1a and reinstall just x1 to get my sound card to work again.  I opened a new project and closed it and It didn't crash, If i open a project that has considerable amount of work done , it crashes when I close.  What else can I do?

Ok I just noticed when My board disconnects that is when the error message comes up. So I know my answer wait till X1b is released. and keep my fingers crossed.. I wonder if I install x1a then the Lynx hot fix if that might prevent the crashing, I just dont want to install x1a then the fix to have My audio fail. as it did with just the x1a patch, dose anyone know if the hot fix works with the Tascam Fw 1884?
