Want a Refreshing Break?

Go check out the old 8.5 forums.

Just a bunch of helpful posts for people having problems.

How long before this forum returns to its former mostly helpful state?

There was no former forum here. This forum is as it has always been. It is important to remember that you are not a prisoner here. You may come and go as you please and read what you want and not read what you don't.

I have no reference point; didn't use the forums much before X1.

But I am not worried about what other people do.  My success is far more dependant on my own behavior and my actions and reactions to what is going on.  And I'm not talking about a DAW when I say that, I am talking about life.

I actually think it will come back around once the Cakewalk folks come back from vacation and are able to answer some of the questions from the folks who are seriously having issues.  Two months tops is my guess.

I actually feel bad for whoever gets the crap job of having to weed through the BS to get at the useful threads.  I am sure it is one of the reasons that they are insisting that only those issues reported via their feedback form will be seriously looked at.

On top of that the whiners and drama queens will die off once they don't have an audience anymore.  It is a handful of users, just use the block feature and eventually they will fade away or even in time become useful contributors again.  I have found by blocking them out my experiance on the forum is greatly enhanced.

Anyhow that's my two cents, ymmv.

I had to block somebody the other day, and my experience has also been better.  It was the first time I ever blocked anybody, so I wasn't sure how the forum would display their presence.

It's nice how their posts are replaced by a graphic that says that the person is on the blocked list, but also nice is how their thread is displayed when they are the topic-starter.  Their user name is typed in strikeout.  Helps me to decide whether or not to even look at that thread.  So far I have not felt the need to do so.

To Quote Bapu , " OR WILL IT?"....

I wish there would be less of the "i'm taking my marbles and going home/sell it/embrace xyz DAW" or the beating a dead horse post when the issue has been brought to light already..

tempers are flaring, nerves are stretched thin,   but the issues have been brought to light and identified. and I am sure CW is reading, and either the issues will be fixed or will remain un-repaired as in the issues since 8.5. Then we as consumers move on . the product will speak for itself.

I personally resolved some issues by housekeeping my DAW, CCleaner, defrag, and removing lots of unused devices under show hidden devices in device manager, plus updating and re-installing some corrupt drivers...

That all depends on "who" goes.  I'm sure the developers will not all be going.  Sure, things will slow down some in the middle of January.  But really, not much is happening in Boston now with all these snowstorms anyhow.  They might as well all trundle off to see the new stuff and flirt with the boothbabes.

I think this type of "tone" is what the OP was referring... Me thinks he did not need correcting or educated.

Too true musicroom and I've used the block member function to avoid such constant sniping. Seems to works OK unless that blocked member is quoted.

Definitely some good people here and good information to be found. Some people find the Springer or Maury shows to be not boring as well, but this forum has slipped down imho and is no longer a forum others should strive to mimic as in the past. This forum used to be something special. No longer. I expect to hear "HumbleNoise, the results are in and - you are Not the father" at any moment. :)
