Guitar Rig 4 w/Rig Kontrol 1

I posted this in the X1 forum and got no responses. Thought I'd try here.
 
I had GR3le working in 8.5.3 with an older rig kontrol 1 footswitch. But, I can't seem to get the funtionality with GR4le. Is GR 4 a midi effect or a VST effect? Did I install it incorrectly or what. The interface seems entirely different. Can someone point me in the right direction, please?

    You have to config GR4 as an VST Synth, then is GR 4 able to recieve midi data from a keyboard too. ;)
