Thats very sad, he had been iin poor health for a long time.

Just a quick addendum, having pondered Gerry's career in my mind since reading the news here, just to say that 'Stuck in the middle with you' has been resident in my live set with The Strumberries for a couple of years now, and as a tribute to Gerry will now remain there a while longer when I return to the frey when my treatment is over in a few months

Now the news is spreading across the media networks, here's a slightly more detailed music obituary with some anecdotes from The Telegraph in the UK

A bit too close to home this sad news.

For many years, every time I walked onto the Brighton Palace Pier, the radio station would inevitably play Baker Street, so the song and place are now forever linked in my neurons. Next time I'm there I may just drop a flower into the sea for him.

I still have found memories of Baker Street getting airplay on the radio at my first job.  Amazing how innocent I was in those days and what little things i would let bother me, not knowing what real problems lay ahead.

I saw it too. Sad news indeed. Baker Street sends the bigest shivers down my spine. I simply love that song!

Yes.  It is almost like another singer - evocative without words.   After two seconds you know the song.  Talk about a hook.   Great song.

"City to City" was one of the best albums of the 70's.  He will be missed here.  Love ya, Gerry.
