importing audio

When I try to drag and drop a clip to a track or use the file>import audio option sonar just drops the audio at odd places on the track.  I've moved the time indicator to where I want the audio to be dropped but most times it either imports it at the beginning of the track or somewhere other than the time indicator. Is this a bug or a "feature"?  And is there a way to change it so it imports it at the current time indicator's position?  I've looked through preferences and can't seem to find a way to change this behavior and it's very frustrating when I have a lot of clips to import.  They just start stacking on top of each other.  Thanks.

    Could be this:
Broadcast wav files have a time stamp which determines where they are dropped. You can uncheck "Import Broadcast Wav on the time stamp" (or something like that) in the options dialogue. At least that was the case in 8.5.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

most times it either imports it at the beginning of the track or somewhere other than the time indicator. Is this a bug or a "feature"?

This is a feature. If they are normal MIDI or WAV files without a broadcast timestamp, they will drop wherever your mouse cursor is when you release them. They pay no attention to where SONAR's Now time cursor is. If they are broadcast waves and you have the Always Import Broadcast Waves At Their Timestamp option enabled, they may drop at 00:00:00:00, or somewhere way out in the timeline.

You just need to import with Snap enabled (preferably with Magnetism Off, if you don't want to have to aim too precisely) and put your mouse cursor on near the barline you want to import to.

EDIT: Missed that that this was happening with File > Import; I thought it was all drag and drop. In the case of File > Import, it should import to the Now time except in the case of Broadcast waves.

Press P and choose File - Audio Data in the Preferences dialog box to find the option that was already mentioned.

Just bumping this thread because I encountered the same problem after a new install/upgrade to 64-bit - drag/drop audio would put the loops in random places, usually way out at measure number 1900 or something like that.  The tip above solved the problem for me.
