SI-Bass goes funky!

Is it just me or does SI-Bass Guitar do wierd things?

Whenever I pause a song and hit play, or solo a track and then un-solo it, the SI-Bass either goes silent or blends one note into another forming one continuous bending note. To clear it I have to stop the song before continuing.

On other occasions it will miss notes at random throughout the song. I think SI-Drums does this too.

I don't know if it's the VI acting up or my computer trying to keep up with Sonar.

Is there a better bass guitar out there?

You can try the bass patches in Dimension LE.

soens, I can offer only that at least, it's not just you.  I haven't experienced the issues you mentioned, but
    1) the thing doesn't respond to velocity changes.  the track shows velocity changes normally, allows editing, but the SI software just ignores them - the sounds are completely level.
    2) Open the plug-in properties, check the settings, then exit.  A different window becomes active and upon returning to the plug in window, I find two error msgboxes - one about an "unsupported operation" and another citing an "improper argument".
The thing continues to play - albeit in its mono-velocity kind of way - but the error msgs appear each time I open the properties menu.
    3) couldn't find a context-sensitive help reference.

I had read about how Cakewalk plug-ins are less than stellar, features half done, etc., but allowing this piece of software into production is a travesty.  It does have nice tone and I do need a v-bass, so the search continues.

It's a damn shame that - in products overall - the bean counters have shoved "cheap cheap cheap now now now" down engineers' and developers' throats.  And it seems to be "prudent business practice" for companies to keep silent, if not downright lie, about known bugs as long as possible.  Products built by companies with "integrity", "pride of workmanship" and "quality" are becoming harder to find.

I do like a lot of the new X1 features, but the continued aggravation losing time, money and patience having to troubleshoot "funky" software behavior is disheartening.

I never had the type of problems you discribe with the SI bass.

To answer the second question. The Native Instruments Scarbee Basses are a lot better than the SI bass. But so they should be for the price difference. Between the two you have Yellowtools Majestic which provides a lot of different bass guitars. However the SI bass is a excellent value for money VSTi in my opinion.

"Excellent value for money" -- mine was free, and so far no bugs, but spot on about rushed dev cycles -- and not enough publicity about development timelines or bugs.

I want to see an issue tracker - and not something from 1989 like the forums, but something like GitHub.

I want to know what features are planned for when.

I want to be able to vote on what feature gets implimented next.

We are the customers, it only makes sense to listen to us -- some companies pay a lot of money for user-feedback that is more than comments on how crap or superb the product was found to be.
