Removing Sonar 8.5 completely

Hi,

I've tried removing Sonar 8.5 completely from my system (for various reasons I want a fresh install). However, when I go to reinstall, it tells me that Sonar has previously been installed, and insists on using various settings from the previous install, causing me problems as my system config has changed.

In addition to running the Uninstall programme, what else can I do to remove all traces, registry included (although I thought I'd found all references to it in the registry) so that I can start completely afresh?

Many thanks

The only file that is left in the registry after you do a "remove program" in Windows is the time stamp for demo programs use.

You can find it by searching the registry with the date you first installed the program. (if you can remember when that was)

Or, you can purchase the program.

I don't know how long it's been since you installed it, but system restore points might do a better job.

Here is a set of instructions sent to me one time from Cakewalk tech support. Replace '7.0' with '8.5' probably.

For a clean installation of SONAR 7 please try the following:

    a) Completely un-install SONAR from your computer. This is normally done from Start | Programs | Cakewalk. This will not remove any of your files or audio data.

    b) Make sure nothing else is running while reinstalling SONAR in step 'e'. Choose Start | Run and type MSCONFIG. Click OK, then click on the Startup tab at the upper right of the window that opens. Uncheck all items listed, click OK, then restart your computer. You can always recheck those items again at a later time.

    c) Click the Windows Start button and select Run. At the prompt type REGEDIT and click OK.

Backup your Registry before making edits - you do this by clicking the Registry menu, Export Registry File.

Now delete the following Registry keys:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer\7.0
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer\7.0

Backup your Registry before making edits - you do this by clicking the Registry menu, Export Registry File.

Please note that this will remove any effects presets and key bindings you may have made in Cakewalk. You can back up those registry keys separately if you like.

    d) Go to the Windows Start Menu and click "Search". Choose to search "All Files and Folders". Click to display the "More Advanced Options"and make sure there is a check in "Search Hidden Files and Folders".

Now search for the following file:

    AUD.INI

Delete any that are in a folder named "SONAR 7 Producer Edition"

Now do the same for TTSSEQ.INI.

    e) Restart your computer, then reinstall SONAR and the patches from
