My very first recording. . . .

My first recording using SONAR 6 and a $99.00 mic back in 2008.  Kinda cool to go back and listen to the old stuff.
The song needs a total makeover but I still don't have a studio.  It's only my hobby but I can't wait to get back to recording.

The song if you want to give it a listen . . .

What the hell? What happened to your DAW? I'm about to redo some of my earlier stuff as well. The recording does suck, but the talent underlying is on full display.

    Hey Kev,

This is a cool song, man.

Nice guitar parts and tone, too.

    What happened to your studio?

It's always nice to hear something from you...good luck with the studio.

Kev, I can't wait to hear what you're going to come up with once you're up and running with your new studio. A first recording?! This mix is not bad at all (listening in the cans). Better still, is the composition/arrangement complete with special fxs. Very nice work. The vocs and bgvs are also very well done. Bravo!

Very raw, but you have an inspiring sound and interesting concepts.   Hope you get going again.

This is really well done, and to be honest, it sounds better than many of the commercial recordings of the 70's and 80's.

I love work like this.....cause it is so raw but there is a lot of feeling and energy there.....kind of reminds me a lot of very early stones!

Get that studio up and running soon...

Coulda swore I heard this before. I can hear a cool song in there.... with a proper re-do.

The songwriting sounds solid. And that's the key.

    I'd record it again.

Hey Kev, long time no see. I think you have a unique and totally original vibe to your music. I really like the melodic guitar part that goes through the song. It’s quirky and offsetting in a good way and the tone is really cool. I also like how the song winds down in the break and how that emphasizes the chorus when it comes back in.  I like the line "although I'm soaking wet I don't regret the place to be".  All in all, it’s a great first recording and proof that you don’t need a lot of fancy and expensive gear to make excellent music.

Yeah, you could try to redo this song, and you probably should, but I don’t think the production is all that bad the way it is. The fact is, it’s a good song and I find that sometimes when you re-record a song, the production sounds better, but all of the spontaneity and creative energy that made the song good in the first place gets lost. Case in point, your song “Maybe Today” which is one of my favorites of yours. I personally like the rough cut better than the new mix. The new mix is better production wise but it just kind of plods along compared to the rough cut which has much more “life” to it. You know what I mean?

Anyway, best of luck with the song and get that studio back up and running soon.
