Getting no sound when playing back Gtr track. Please help

I recently got this piece of equipment and I've been struggling to figure out how to record and playback guitar. I followed the exact instructions as shown in the "getting started" manual to record a track. I also added guitar rig 3 on the track's effects. The recording is showing up on screen but I'm getting no sound whatsoever. I have the indicated drivers the manual mentions checked off in the input/output boxes of the MIDI devices menu. Does this have to do with guitar rig 3 or are my moniters not hooked up or integrated correctly? I have 2 M-Audio moniters plugged into a power strip and going into the V Studio 100. I'm clueless, I'd appreciate any help I could get from a veteran of this program. Thanks

    hey blakeboseph, welcome.

well let's see, i don't know if i'm a "veteran" per se, but i might be able to help none the less.

first thing, check the output assignment for the track... i'll assume your not using a guitar buss and that you just want to go right to the main outputs 1 and 2. are you seeing signal at an output in console view? (let me know if you are using a guitar buss, i'll explain that then).

next, are your monitors plugged into outputs 1 and 2 on the back of vs100?

let me know if that found it.

You mention having midi in and out set, how about audio outs? Have you plugged in headphones to eliminate your monitors as a potential issue? Are you trying to listen with your computer speakers or do you have speakers plugged into you vs100?

I'm not using a guitar buss. My moniters are plugged into the red and white outputs in the back.

then make sure that your main outputs are set to 5 and 6.
    or
do you have cables or adapters to go from outputs 1 and 2 to your speakers?

i think what's happening is that the audio is outputting on 1 and 2 and your speakers are plugged into 5 and 6.

when i upgraded to sonar x1 i had to uninstall the vs production pack software due to a technical issue, so i have to try and remember how that is done without looking at it.

in the track view, at bottom left, you'll either see the the master buss output, or if it's collapsed, you will see a little triangle that will pull it up if you click on it.

once you have the master buss in track view, find the input/output assignments and set the master to outputs 5 and 6 (it will be in a drop-down window). i think thats how to do it. check the help file and put in "output assignments" or similar.

you may want to go to radio shack and pick up a couple of 'female rca to mono male 1/4 inch' adapters. they are good to have around.

    good luck.

Is your CPU meter in guitar rig moving? If not go back to your track and turn on" INPUT Echo thru" then bring up guitar rig screen and check CPU meter activity. Are your monitors connected properly? I use output 1-2. In guitar rig check your input/ output rig controls, also check your amp gain knobs, sometimes depending on which head and cabinet you are using the input/ outputs have to be at like 70-80% to get decent audio, and if you are using distortion check the gain and volume on that rack. If your CPU meter in guitar rig is fluctuating, you are getting input and output signal , and it is more than likely a monitor or tracking assign issue. Hope this helps, LOSTTRIBE
