Sending a recording session via email
Hello!
I have Sonar 7 and I am a writer.
I record my own sessions, but I need to send the completed session (vocals laid) to my producer.
How can I send a complete session as a whole via email?

Sessions with audio are generally too big for email. I use yousendit or File Hippo.

It does depend on how big the project is, but email is unlikely to be the most suitable solution.
Yousendit is a good service for large files, otherwise get yourself some webhosting with an ftp account and use that.

Thank you both, but how do I save the session with the audio in place so that when the producer opens it, everything is in place as I would see it?
I send him sessions and when he opens them, the audio files are missing.

Save the session to a new folder. Make sure the copy audio box is checked. Then send that folder.

It all remains more reliable if you use Per Project Audio Folders-option when creating new projects (in case you have not done so this far).
SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre - Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc. The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

Dropbox is a great solution as well. Check it out here. I have used it with several past projects and it seems to be a good solution especially when you are talking about large projects.

The easiest way to do this is to save the project as a Bundle. Do this by selecting bundle in the "save as type" drop down in the Save As box. This gives you a single file which contains both the project and the audio data.

I use yousendit.com and if there big files. I have a drop box that can handle 2 gigs of data, but its not free.
I would use yousendit.com and zip all your audio files into a zip folder and then send that folder. Zipping them actually protects the audio files form getting corrupt. That's what I heard at least..
Make sure you export form beat 1, measure 1 so they line up in his program.. Very important

To answer your question about the missing audio, Use "save as" and browse to a new location and make a new folder to put it all in so you won't get it mixed up. Just make sure you select the "copy all audio with project " It will create a audio folder with only the audio files from that project all within that folder. This is also a good way to sort out general chaos when you have to many versions of a song or other songs sharing one audio folder. Only the wave files for that song will be in the new folder. There are plenty of free web storage sites now , "the Cloud" is the cute name used
