Core i5-650 with Omnisphere S8.3.5 Producerx64/Win7x64?

I rather stupidly posted this query in the Sonar forum...duhhh.

I am apparently getting a Core i5-650 based replacement for the equipment in  my signature...

I may have the choice to upgrade, but if not, it'll be the i5-650@3.2 GHz, 4MB cache, and 8GB ram, with three HD's as shown below.

This is a warranty replacement from the vendor.

I think this system will handle Omnisphere, but I am concerned about having 2 cores vs. the 4  have now, and I ain't

nuts about the 4MB cache.

Anyone running this set-up???

Thanks in advance,

Tony S

    HI,
the 500. 600 series of Intel are poor performers. fine for hobbiest with lite use
not so much for something as heavy as Omnisphere can be.
minimum is 700 series and up really.

I have a relatively new build running the i5 750. its a sweet DAW.

I don't have Omnisphere, but I have run a few projects loaded with several instances of Kontakt, EWQL, and Ozone4 in a bunch of tracks PLUS a boat load of the cake FX plugs (eq & verb) in the tracks FX bins.

The project ran smooth as silk and barely bumped 30% on CPU... averaging 25%, and not a hiccup.

I loaded the project up just to see if I could make it sweat. My old lappy would have dropped audio way before that, probably after a few kontakts and O4 in the master.
