If the voicemaster pro has a line input that goes through the comp and de-esser you can. You'll have to check the diagram to be sure. I havent' checked the specs. @
https://soundcloud.com/a-pleasure-dome http://www.bnoir-film.com/ there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head. 24 And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

You can yes - I have one on my main vox setup. The pre is very good though - why would you want to bypass it?

Depends on your voice, and many other factors. What mic are you using? How close are you to the mic? How good is your room? The Voicemaster Pro is a very decent Pre, and I have made fully international recordings using it on everything from Vox to guitars, to bass (DI) etc. Most likely, it's not the source of your frustrations. You want to send me a mix to listen yo perhaps?

Just the fact that someone would say that the ART has a better pre should tell you something. That's like the pot calling the kettle black. :-)

Way too many agendas and fan boys. I don't own a VMP but have heard it in action on more than one occasion. I'll tell you what, you tell me what model Art Pre this unit was and I'll buy it, gift wrap it and send it to you, and you send me the VMP. That's not meant as a criticism or slight on ART gear either. I did not use the EQ and Compressor sections of the VMP when I sang through it. Just wanted to clarify that. It's possible the reviews you read were refering to those instead of the pre itself... But I still would take them with a grain of salt.

I think the real problem here is DavidRR is strugling to get a sound he likes - let's hear something Dave, and maybe we can give you some advice.
